Cross dissolve only on one clip
WebFeb 17, 2024 · If you took one clip and just butted up the next clip to it you will not get a dissolve. Transitions need video to go from and to, called "handles". So, if your default dissolve length is set to say 2 seconds, trim the end of the first clip and the beginning of the second clip by at least 1 second before butting them up. WebMay 10, 2024 · I just trim the end and beginning of two clips, then right click on the join and choose add 7 frame cross dissolve. There is no option to choose "faster" or "better". WebJan 11, 2024 · It only places the transition on one of the clips with no overlap. See attached image for example. I found I can fix for this by inserting the default transistion using the "DIS" button on the Speed Editor (which overlaps between clips as expected), and then dragging and dropping the actual video transition I want over top of that.

If you put the clips end to end, running them right up to the end of the file and beginning of the file, then there is no video for Premiere to apply a dissolve to.
