The EFI uses the distributor to know cam position and triggers the MSD box to spark. There are other options as well that are covered in the manual (which is on their site).

The only location I can identify for the FiTech coolant temp sensor is in the water pump. Using that port will require disabling the existing coolant temp gauge. I’d rather not disable the gauge.
