Web17 feb. 2024 · Air India made a historic announcement on 14 February 2024 by signing a deal with Boeing and Airbus to buy 470 aircraft worth $ 70 billion, marking the largest order in aviation history. This is also Air India's first order since 2005, and comes at a time when the Indian aviation industry is seeing a surge in passenger traffic. India had the world's third-largest civil aviation market in 2024, with the number of passengers growing at an average annual rate of 16.3% between 2000 and 2015. It recorded an air traffic of 131 million passengers in 2016. Despite this growth, much of the country's aviation potential remains untapped.
