As mentioned before, mChat works great for that. Give it a try and you'll see what I mean. As stated above make sure you're not an op, and also make sure you don't use tab, and have the correct spacing. Also, in newer versions, all groups, even the default, have to have an inheritance. (PEX itself doesn't display them, just gives you a place to store the info for other plugins to access.) You can also read the Basic Prefix/Suffix Guide for more info on getting the prefixes working.
