WebJun 26, 2024 · If you do buy the Tekton, I would advise getting the 8 ohm version. These speakers are extremely efficient (98db), which present a whole slew of other problems, such as preamp gain. The preamp's have to be turned down very low and many audio/gain stages just do not sound as good unless they are driven up to certain voltage levels. If I go this route, I could fund much of the purchase price of the Tektons by selling the Elacs and then I'd play musical chairs with the speakers and move the Jamos that are into the big room into the bedroom. However, it's the dispersion that's the key unique attribute of this design. 2 - The controlled dispersion is the main attribute of the array. It will act more like a line array or ESL in that it will have a rather large mid range, with the top end of a tweeter.

I reviewed them way back in 2012, and I have fond memories of them. Amplification will be a DIY FirstWatt F5 (25w @ 8ohm) that I've barely started on. At $625, the Mini-Lore monitors would fit my footprint, required specs, and desired budget perfectly.
WebTekton Lore gets ripped apart and exposed. That thread they reference at AVS is exceptional reading. All those people with out grills! I also love how you need to sign and NDA to get any kind of measurements, or anything at all about the speakers. I don't recall any of the Klipsch classic line being braced either.
